Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!!

As you can tell from the title of this post, we are experiencing LOTS OF SNOW!!!! Some of you folks live in the land of snow and so it's no big deal to have this amount of snow, but this amount in a 24 hour period is somewhat unusual for Spokane. Folks in Post Falls have over 27 inches. We have at least 2 feet. Here's some pics to prove it. We're staying home and digging out. All schools are shut down and police don't want anyone out on the streets unless you have 4-wheel drive and then sometimes that doesn't even work. Over the weekend we get the deep freeze factor thrown in--below zero. Christmas just isn't Christmas without snow so "Merry Christmas" everyone!!

Dinner with Friends

Because we have such great friends, we invited them over for dinner Saturday. We had a great time of food and fellowship. Perhaps you'll recognize some of them. From left is Ken and Becky Johnson, Debbie and Jim Gilchrist, Dick and myself, Frank and Irma Geis (in front of tree), Skip and Cathy Elford, John and Martha Smith. Our sweet daughters (Lisa and Amie) along with our son-in-law Chris were our servants for the meal. They cooked and served the meal. We were very pampered, leaving us at the table to enjoy our unbroken fellowship and conversation. Thanks Chris, Lisa and Amie!!

Condo Windows

Cody James is Three Today

Today we celebrated our grandson's third birthday. We all went to Lutherhaven--a camping facility out of Post Falls. It was a lovely evening with friends and kiddos.

Happy Happy Father's Day!!

Today we celebrated Father's Day with lunch at the Condo. Amie, Scott, Liz, Cody, Peter with his girlfriend Brandi, Buzz, Dick and myself all sat around the table eating marianted flank steak, homemade potatoe salad (Dick's favorite), spinach salad, peas, followed with Turtle Cheescake. Chris, Lisa, and Claire were in Oregon visiting family (showing off Claire) while we had dinner and "fun in the sun."

Condo Not Selling

Well, as it turns out not a soul has passed over the threshold of our place since we put it up for sale--over a month ago. Our realtor said the Condo market was soft and the lack of activity has proven that. We don't anticipate our place to sell in any forseeable future. For now we are content to stay here and enjoy the fruit of our labor. Dick is working away on our upper kitchen cabinets. It'll be a week or two before they are ready to install. And when they're done, I'll make sure and get the pictures posted.

Meanwhile we are both working at the same place. John Osborne, a regular attender at Christ Our Hope, needed help in his shop. Dick didn't have any woodworking, so he began working in Jon's metal shop in February. I began doing clerical work in Jon's office in March. God provided help for Jon and income for us. A sweet union ordained by God. We will continue to work with Jon unless God should open doors to do something else.

We are in good health and doing fine. Finally enjoying some warm weather. Enjoying our granddaughter Claire. She's a sweet bundle of joy.

Claire arrived at 8:30pm Saturday, April 12th. She weighs 8lbs 3oz, 22 inches long. She has long fingers and toes and black curly hair (like her daddy). She looks like Lisa (and her cousin Buzz), but has many Chris similarities too.

Fireplace Done!!

Dick completed the crown molding around the fireplace last night. It is officially done!!!! We are thoroughly enjoying the masterpiece. It has a much bigger presence in our home than we originally thought, but we like it nonetheless. We think it has that old world charm and elegance we were looking for.

Two Projects Completed!

Over the last two weekends, Dick has been finishing up the built-in buffet. He placed glass shelves in the unit so that the puck lights could shine through and show off the china and crystle that belonged to his mother. It's great to enjoy the fruit of our labor and to have a sense of accomplishment.

The next project was the fireplace. Dick's vision all along was to have bookshelves on each side of the fireplace. He finally finished it off on Monday. Doesn't it look lovely? It has that old world charm that fits with the age of the building. He needs to put crown molding up next to the ceiling, but at least the fireplace is done and another completion to enjoy.

Easter Celebration

Everyone met at Chris and Lisa's home for dinner after church. Aunt Mimi had an "Easter Egg Hunt" planned for Buzz and Cody. Not only eggs, but fun toys and candy too.

After the egg hunt the boys wanted Grammy to play "fort" with them. We crawled under the dining room table and played "oger feet." Everyone was sitting at the table having dessert and we would stomp on their feet with our hands pretending to keep the ogers away from us.

Weekend Together

This weekend was filled with family and friends. Saturday Lisa was given a baby shower by the ladies at Faith Bible Church. She received so many gifts. It was a special time for me to be with old friends and experience the generosity and love the ladies have for Lisa.

After the shower Scott, Liz and Cody came to our home and treated us to dinner. They brought spaghetti, salad, and french bread. Yummy!! Cody took the picture of Uncle Pete.

Chris and Lisa invited us over to their home for lunch after church. They treated us to a pork roast dinner with asparagus, green beans, yummy rice, green salad and home made cookies made by Buzz and Aunt "Cesa." Silly Daddy!!

Grandma and Buzz sat and read stories while waiting for dinner to be served.

Papa and Buzz were investigating Claire's collection of books to find a story for nap time.

A full and blessed weekend!! We missed Amie as she was in Seattle with her friends.

Toy Box for Claire

Papa has done it again. He has made a treasure box for his precious granddaughter Claire. As always it is done to perfection. Do you think it will remain that way or will it be embellished with loving scratches from Claire? It will be a life-long treasure she'll have forever. It was presented to Lisa at baby shower given by Auntie Mimi.

Condo Condition

Little by little Dick is able to near completion on another project in our home--namely the buffet. It started out with five coats of paint and through the last two years we've brought it back to it's natural state. Stain and shellac has brought it to this. Dick will apply a protective coat of finish, hang doors, add a couple of puck lights and we're done with this project and on to the next.

With everyone home for Christmas, we had a grand time together!! With festivities over and no nap, this is how we looked at the end of the day.
